Basic Tips

First off, these are the things that you simply CAN'T ignore in this exam. So don't!

1. EVERY SINGLE PARAGRAPH MUST CONTAIN EVIDENCE - If you're talking about presentation, not language, then your evidence must take the form of a VERY DETAILED description of the thing you're talking about.

2. You should always be aiming to fill the space which you have been given in the answer booklet. They give you that amount of space for a reason!

3. You should spend roughly the following amounts of time on each question:

1. 12 minutes             8 marks
2. 12 minutes             8 marks
3. 12 minutes             8 marks
4. 24 minutes             16 marks

As this is your first time, I may give you a little longer.

4. Each point that you make should be backed up with an explanation where you talk about what has been done, why it has been done, and why it makes it particularly effective for your target audience. Make sure you have IDENTIFIED the TARGET AUDIENCE for each text, and then identify how the author has made this text work for that audience!

That's all you have to do!
